Job Post:    EPC PROJECT CLAIM MANAGER

Description
An EPC project Claim Manager is responsible for the claim’s management of a variety of projects and contract typology (EP, EPC, EPCM etc.) during the project execution phase. He/she must have the ability to operate and manage within the Project and Company structure.
 
 
Responsibilities
 
• responsibility for claim/change and claim/change rebuttal preparation to and from Client, Subcontractors and Suppliers; 
• supporting the project teams for technical and contractual issues related to claims under his/her responsibility; 
• with the support of the project teams collecting and analyzing information and gathering the appropriate argumentation and evidence for a claim/change/rebuttal; 
• interpretation of the Contract clauses/wording and schedule to determine the heads of claim and the application of any conditions or exclusions; • drafting the claim in close cooperation with Project and claim department team members; 
• provide clear contractual analysis and advice to project team on matters concerning contractual obligations, contract risk, and claim management in collaboration with claim legal department. • monitor claim-relevant events within project execution; 
• keep claim-relevant records, establish and conduct claim tracking and reporting; • support the project team during claim negotiation and follow up till settlement of the disputes; 
• support the corporate legal team and the project team in case of arbitration/litigation disputes. 
 
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

• thorough knowledge of contract language claim process and legal requirements of EPC/construction contracts across a variety of contract types; 
• technical knowledge of Engineering Procurement and Construction flows/dynamics in EPC Company; 
• ability to review major complex contracts in EPC sector to identify and communicate risks and mitigation strategies relevant to the assigned topic; 
• strong understanding of the risks of the contract(s) and the potential legal and financial consequences associated therewith;
 • experience in Project Execution including site activities; 
• experience of risk appraisal and claims management for projects; 
• analytical skills;
• leadership, management, and mentoring/training of claim team members relevant to the claims under her/his responsibility. 
 
 
Personal Attributes: 
 
• Engineering Degree, or equivalent work experience; 
• minimum 10 years of experience gained on a major complex project or in an Engineering/ Management/Commercial/Claims Manager role in a large Engineering and construction company; 
• international major contractors experience in joint venture environments is preferred; 
• fluent Italian and English speaker and writer; • flexibility and desire to get involved; • excellent communication and negotiation skills; 
• numerate and computer literate; 
• availability to travel abroad.
