Material Selection, Corrosion & Painting Process Specialist works on Front End Engineering Design and large-scale Engineering Procurement Construction and Commissioning Projects (mainly in oil & gas, petrochemicals, fertilizer processing industries and powers). 
He/She has to follow safety and cost-effectiveness criteria, Contractual requirements, International Codes and Standards.  
Key Activities & Responsibilities
- REVIEW of contractual documentation; 
- MATERIAL SELECTION for corrosive and / or process environment. This duty includes: 
 • corrosion rate evaluation or calculation as per literature data and /or corrosion software; 
 • selection of proper material grade (i.e. low alloy, CRA);  
  • definition of requirements (chemical composition restriction, heat treatment conditions and/or corrosion testing) for specific corrosive environment (i.e. sour service HIC/SSC, high temperature hydrogen attack, etc.);  
  • review of laboratory corrosion testing procedures; 
- PROTECTIVE COATING / LINING (atmospheric corrosion, internal lining, buried and submerged surfaces) including hot dip galvanizing, thermal spray coating, etc. This duty includes: 
   • definition of technical specifications; 
   • review of Vendor documentation; 
    • coating pre-job meeting at application workshops; 
    • audit at laboratories for corrosion tests;  
    • spot inspections during and after application. 
- CORROSION MONITORING requires the following: 
   • definition of type and location of probes and coupon; 
   • recommendation for periodical inspection type and frequency; 
   • identification of corrosion loops; 
   • selection of key location for process equipment and piping for periodical UT monitoring locations, etc.; 
   • cooperation with the third party in charge for preparing both the risk matrix (RBI) of equipment and lines and the inspection plan; 
- CATHODIC PROTECTION: general protection criteria and design by SACP and ICCP; 
- RISK BASED INSPECTION: basic knowledge and management by third party; 
- ASSISTANCE, providing support during design phases, construction and commissioning in the operating center and/or at site based on the     project needs. 
 Personal Attributes: 
 • Master’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, Material Science or similar technical field; 
 • Material and Metallurgical background with knowledge of material selection for application in petrochemical, power, fertilizing and oil & gas industry; 
 • fluent English speaker and writer; 
 • availability to travel abroad at site and/or vendor workshop; 
 • experience: 2/5 or more years of experience in a similar role is preferred.
